Since 1989: how an idea became a manufactory

A wooden board, a pane of glass – and the start of everything

Our story doesn’t begin in a boardroom, but in a carpenter’s workshop. What started in 1989 as one craftsman’s idea is today an owner-managed manufacturer in its second generation – with its own production in Schwaigern and customers across Europe.

The key milestones

More than 35 years of development – from the first invention to an international brand.

  1. 1989

    The first idea

In Landstuhl in the Palatinate, master carpenter Benno Barz connects a wooden board directly to a pane of glass. This simple idea becomes our first in-house frameless picture holder, known at the time as the “Ultra frame”.

  2. 1992

    Moving to Schwaigern

With the move to Schwaigern and the takeover of the company Müller, we add the now well-known clip frames to our portfolio. Schwaigern has been our home ever since.

  3. 1990s

Our own profiles, our own patent

We develop the plastic frame “Art” with a corner joint that is still patented today. Under the management of Roland Rudolph, we also start producing wooden frames in-house.

  4. 2002

    A dropshipping pioneer

As one of the first manufacturers in the industry, we enter the dropshipping business, shipping on behalf of our partners directly to their end customers.

  5. 2004

    Aluminium joins the range

By taking over the company recobloc, we add high-quality aluminium frames to our range. At the same time, we move to our current site on Industriestraße.

  6. 2013

    The next generation

Katja, Marius and Christoph – three of Roland Rudolph’s five children – join the company. They drive forward the modernisation of production and automation.

  7. 2022

    Handover to the siblings

The siblings officially take over the company. The focus is on digital structures, a new brand identity and even safer shipping solutions.

  8. 2023

    Two brands, one factory

We differentiate our brand strategy: effect Bilderrahmen remains the partner for specialist retail, while meinlieblingsrahmen.de becomes our own platform for consumers. In the same year we completely redesign our offices.

  9. 2025

    Across the border

First we open our shop for Austria and Switzerland, then France follows. This marks the start of international expansion – while production remains exclusively in Schwaigern.

  10. 2025

    More space at the factory

We extend the building and significantly increase our warehouse space – more room for materials and shorter distances in production.

  11. 2026

    Further into Europe

Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium follow. Our position as an international quality manufacturer grows stronger – with the same machines and the same hands as on day one.

What hasn’t changed in over 35 years

Technology, markets and formats have changed. Three things have stayed the same.

  • Production in Schwaigern

Every moulding is made in our own factory. No middlemen, no outsourced production – and every frame is inspected individually before it ships.

  • Materials with an origin

We rely on European suppliers, FSC-certified wood and recycled packaging. For us, sustainability is a purchasing decision, not an advertising promise.

  • Owner-managed

Decisions are made here on site, not at a distant headquarters. You notice it in short lines of communication, dedicated contacts and the fact that we produce from a single piece.

Since 1989. Experience you can feel.

With more than 70 dedicated people, we produce and ship around 700,000 framing solutions a year – for 1,000 retailers, companies and institutions who rely on genuine quality, personal advice and a true partnership.
